Vision.

Togo Esomé is a NGO based in Denmark. Through our work we attempt to strengthen the social infrastructure of Togo through new culture and craft initiatives.

Projects.

  • Prisons in Togo.

We attempt to tackle one of the big challenges of overcrowded and underfunded prisons in Togo, with the focus on rehabilitation through traditional craft.

  • Kente.

Togo is known for its impressive tradition of Kente weaving, which is an ancient art form deeply rooted in Togolese culture. The cloth is renowned for its colorful and intricate patterns.

  • Pilot project.

Inana Textiles initially began the Kente weaving project in 2021, with the aim of educating three inmates during the first three years.

  • Vogan Prison.

Vogan Prison and our local partner Inana Textilesl do not have enough resources or space to fulfil the potential of the weaving programme. Togo Esomé’s first vision is to raise money and build a new education and craft centre by the prison.

  • Macrame bags.

We have designed and produced a range of colorful bags in collaboration with the prisoners in Vogan prison, which we have been selling in Denmark to help raise money for the new craft and education centre we wish to build by Vogan Prison.

  • Funding.

Applying for funding is an ongoing process. We have tried various funds for the past year, and finally succeeded with financial support from Merkur Bank. Thanks a lot for beliving in the project and the donation.
