The story of Togo Esomé

is a tale of transformation and hope. During a visit to Togo in 2021, our initial project focused on school uniforms. However, a remarkable discovery changed our perspective. As we engaged with the local community, we realized the potential to collaborate and make a meaningful impact on the lives of inmates.

What started as a project about school uniforms has now

evolved into a journey of creativity, self-expression, and empowerment. As the inmates mastered kente weaving, their confidence grew, spirits lifted, and hope rekindled. The textiles they created became symbols of resilience and newfound possibilities.

Beyond Vogan prison,

these textiles serve a greater purpose. Through their sale, we aim to create sustainable opportunities for the inmates, supporting their reintegration into society and rebuilding their lives. We are grateful for the chance to merge our passion for creativity with a desire to make a difference, fostering a more just and compassionate society.

To ensure long-term impact,

we have designed a comprehensive training program in collaboration with Inana Textiles. After three years of intensive training, the inmates will have the opportunity to obtain a certification in kente weaving, validating their skills and expertise. Gilles, a skilled weaver from Inana Textiles, leads the training sessions, imparting technical skills and a sense of pride.

Inana Textiles

is committed to supporting the inmates' successful reintegration. They have established a local workshop where released inmates can secure employment, ensuring a smooth transition and fostering self-sufficiency. The demand for kente textiles in East Africa provides an opportunity for growth and employment.

By equipping the inmates

with skills, certification, and employment opportunities,we strive to break the cycle of reoffending and create a brighter future. Our collaboration with Vogan prison and Inana Textiles aims to make a positive impact on the lives of inmates, the local community, and the broader region.
