So fare SO GOOD!

The local company Perfect Building Group has been entrusted with the responsibility of completing the construction, ensuring high-quality workmanship and timely execution. This collaboration between funding organizations and the construction group reflects a collective commitment to enhancing the prison's security infrastructure.

The three year Kente weaving education programme will be taught by the local weaving company Inana Textiles, who will also be securing the weavers a job in their Anehó based workshop once they are released.

A dream comes true day 1.

When we arrived at the construction site on the first day at Vogan prison on the 18th of October 2023, we witnessed an impressive sight. The inmates were busy felling a giant tree, and the masons worked in the scorching sun. It deeply touched us, and we felt proud and honored. The wall was already 1 meter high, and brick production was in full swing from day one. They managed to produce around 200 bricks every day using sand and cement. What was truly remarkable was that everything was done manually, including the transportation of sand, bricks, water, rebar, and all other necessary materials in the process. The bricks need to dry for three days before they are used for construction.

Finally :-)

we are very proud and honored to be able to show you the first 'sod' that has been taken, this week, for the education center expansion at Vogan Prison.

And we DID IT!

The wall surrounding the new 350 m2 workshop is now done, in the beginning of February 2024, our collaborator and dear friend Anani called us said “we will begin to put up the looms in the workshop today”

Its almost unbelievable but it is not a dream it has really happened .

Anani added that; The inmates didn't know that a workshop had been built for them. They had heard rumors but wouldn't quite believe it.' 'When the nine inmates who volunteered to assist with the setup had to leave the prison premises for the newly constructed area, they were quite nervous and expressed fear about what they would experience.' Upon arrival, they knelt down and touched the red African sand. They hadn't seen sand in a very long time! We take pride in Togo Esome and look forward to further developing our vision of 'A Brighter Future' for Togo."
